Celebrating its 131st year in business, Holland
America Line's fleet of 13, five-star, premium ships will offer
nearly 500 sailings from 15 North American home ports, including new
departures from Norfolk, VA; Baltimore, MD; and Boston, Mass.
Recent additions to the fleet include the 1,848-passenger Vista
ships, Zuiderdam and ms Oosterdam. On April 25, the third Vista
sister, Westerdam joined the fleet. The fleet will visit all seven
continents in 2004, while increasing the number of cruises to
popular destinations such as Alaska (139 cruises scheduled), the
Caribbean (191), Europe (58) and Canada/New England (23).
Winner of 12 consecutive "Best Overall Cruise Value"
awards from the World Ocean & Cruise Liner Society, Holland America
excels in service, amenities and special programs. Known for
consistent and attentive service, its ships have one of the highest
staff-members-to-guest ratios. Spacious staterooms average 25
percent larger and verandahs twice as large as those on other lines'
ships. Menus are among the most extensive at-sea. Dining choices
include formal elegance, alternative specialty dining in the Pacific
Northwest-themed Pinnacle Grill, casual fare and complimentary
24-hour room service.

Customer Profile
 | Holland America customers seek luxury, comfort
and predictability, but not regimentation in their cruises. They
are experienced travelers and first-time cruisers who appreciate the
five-star service provided by the world’s leading premium cruise
line. Guests enjoy those key elements of the Holland America Line
experience: spacious, elegant ships and accommodations;
sophisticated five-star dining; gracious, unobtrusive service;
extensive enrichment programs and activities; and compelling
worldwide itineraries. |
New In 2004
 | HAL is investing $225 million in the Signature of
Excellence initiative to provide unparalleled product and service
enhancements to its fleet of five-star ships. The comprehensive
enhancements will focus on five areas central to the HAL guest
experience: spacious, elegant ships and accommodations;
sophisticated five-star dining; gracious, unobtrusive service;
extensive enrichment programs and activities; and compelling
worldwide itineraries. Enhancements, and in some cases construction
build-outs, should be completed by the end of 2006.
|
 | In April 2004, the third Vista sister, the
1848-passenger ms Westerdam, joined the fleet. While many additions
to the ships are newly evident - exterior elevators, two promenade
decks, multi-tiered show lounge, varied dining options - the
Vista-class ships look and feel like others in HAL’s fleet,
delivering the traditional on-board “HAL-marks” that made the
company the undisputed leader in premium cruising. The ship boasts
a spacious design for public areas and staterooms with a high
passenger space ratio of 46. And 85 percent of its staterooms have
ocean views, with 67 percent of all staterooms sporting verandahs.
|
 | For the first time, HAL will offer departures for
Caribbean cruises from Norfolk, Baltimore and Philadelphia. The
Maasdam will add 11 cruises between Boston and Montreal in 2004,
doubling its Canada/New England sailings to a total of 23. The
Maasdam’s seven-day sailings begin May 9 and conclude with a final
14-day Fall Foliage tour, departing from Montreal on Oct. 16 and
sailing to Boston.
|
 | New Amazon River Voyage: The 793-passenger
Prinsendam, departs Fort Lauderdale Nov. 20 on a new, 28-day tour of
the southern Caribbean and Amazon River, sailing to Manaus, Brazil
and crossing the equator twice.
|
 | Special D-Day Anniversary cruise: The Noordam
commemorates the 60th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy with a 10-day
sailing roundtrip from Dover, England on June 2. The cruise features
a two-day extended stay in Cherbourg and calls at St. Malo and
Honfleur, France, plus stops in Plymouth, England, the Channel
Islands, Zeebrugge, Belgium, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
|
 | HAL will sail seven ships on 139 cruises to
Alaska during the 2004 sailing season, adding more departures from
Seattle, more private verandahs with a new 1,848-passenger
Vista-class vessel and more glacier sightseeing than ever. Two
ships sail from Seattle and five sail from Vancouver, BC. |
