When searching for cruise deals, the most important thing to remember is to never pay the brochure rate. Cruise fares fluctuate as much or more than airline fares. You can often find deals for as much as 50 percent less than the brochure rate.

To find the best cruise deals, keep in mind the factors that most directly affect the rates. The date of your cruise has a lot to do with the fare; fares are cheapest during the school year and most expensive during the summer and spring breaks. Also, when you book will have a lot to do with the price. Early booking discounts are almost always available, so it is best to book as soon as possible, though sometimes last-minute deals are offered as well.

Discounts are often given for senior citizens or young children, or those traveling in large groups. Regular cruisers on a particular cruise liner are often given great deals and free upgrades. You may also be eligible for a great cruise deal depending on where you live. Certain cruise liners will offer deals to a particular geographic location they are looking to attract to a new port.

After you have done your homework and found the perfect cruise watch the rates closely. Check them daily, even hourly. When you feel the price is right, book right away as it may disappear within the next few minutes.
